Adrian Cox

Adrian Cox (Los Angeles, USA) uses his paintings to depict the lives of a mythic race of beings that he calls the Border Creatures. Since 2011, he has followed the triumphs and tragedies of this recurring cast of hybrid creatures, and woven an increasingly complex narrative that connects his works. In this personal mythology, Cox examines issues that are fundamental to a contemporary human experience, such as how we define the Monstrous and the Other.

Cox has exhibited work both nationally and abroad, including at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louis, Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, 111 Minna Gallery in San Fransisco, and Beinart Gallery in Melbourne. His paintings have also been featured in print in Hi-Fructose Magazine, Anatomy Rocks: Flesh and Bones in Contemporary Art, and Hey! Art Magazine, as well as online by Juxtapoz, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, and VICE.
