Jon Beinart is an Australian artist and director at Beinart Gallery. He is best known for his insectoid doll-part assemblages which he affectionately refers to as his "Toddlerpedes". He also creates miniature paintings and large intricate drawings with strange recurring themes.
As a child, Jon was lost in his imagination and preoccupied with the lives of ants, snails, spiders and mice. This fascination with small worlds continued throughout his life, often distracting him from the larger world around him. In a sense, Jon's detailed drawings reflect his life long preoccupation with small worlds.
Jon founded the Beinart Collective, an online community of strange and imaginative figurative artists, in 2003. From 2007 to 2012, Jon published a number of books, including "Kris Kuksi: Divination and Delusion", "The Extraordinary Drawings of Laurie Lipton" and "Black Magick: The Art of Chet Zar". Jon has also curated Beinart Collective group art exhibitions at reputable galleries in the United States and Australia.
In 2016 Jon opened Beinart Gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Beinart Gallery is a curated space for highly skilled figurative artists with a shared fascination for strange and imaginative themes.
Currently, Jon enjoys devoting his time to creating his own art, curating exhibitions in his gallery, facilitating the Beinart online community and watching his most magnificent creation, his son "Pudding", discover the world.
