Anthony Ausgang (United States) is a writer and painter best known for the trademark psychedelic cats featured in his paintings. Considered one of the originators of contemporary Kustom Kulture and West Coast Lowbrow Art, Ausgang has lived and worked in Los Angeles, California since 1980. Ausgang’s work was featured in the books Pop Surrealism and Weirdo Deluxe, as well as published in Juxtapoz magazine and reviewed by The L.A. Times. Ausgang’s oeuvre consists of custom painted cars, original acrylic paintings and commercial merchandise manufactured by Volcom Clothing and Strangeco Toys. Ausgang’s work was included in the 2005 Pop Pluralism exhibition at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City, in 2014 he curated the Kustom Kulture exhibit in Milan, and his work was featured in the 2016 Popism Emergence Festival in 2016 in Sicily. Ausgang continues to exhibit his paintings in the United States, Europe and Japan while also designing album covers and logos for the bands Green Day, MGMT, Fishbone, Füxa, Spectrum, and The Vacant Lots.
